Ah... so your only problem is that you didn't have an opportunity to exploit the same way of cheating?

Lots of people are selling cheap armbraces. Is it wrong for me to buy one?

Not wrong of course, but risky, because if they are tagged in any way and if Anet scans accounts to see if u have one, then you may (and this is just a guess) be subject to being banned. Just my guess though.

Hm, I dont think they can ban you for an above board trade. We dont know who duped what, the seller may be someone who sold an item to a duper and therefore completely innocent of any malfeasance but he's gotten scared because of this story and decided to get rid of his armbraces.
If I buy one of those armbraces I've not violated anything in the EULA nor have I done anything even morally wrong imho.

Tons of people in Ascalon ID1 spamming "WTB Ambrace 100K"...
Sigh.....
Took me a month of farming back in January-February to get mine. Now people will flame my tormented bow like they flame my FoW armor.

Amazingly long thread. I wouldn't know about this until seeing the thread because i avoid trade at all times.
This is a horrible exploit, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Would hate a rollback simply because i achieved a lot of stuff in the last week alone, the only benefit would be that my level 1 survivor that died because of the reconnect feature would not be dead, damn I wish this had been found last week then he wouldn't have died on me
To resolve the problem of the massive stacks of arm braces i would simply remove them fromt he game and instead of gettign them or needing them make the gems the requirment or reward.
Obviously this hurts those that farmed them normally, maybe it would be possible to reduce the amount in invetories to a maximum of one stack?
Obviously this would not resolve the issue of duplicating other items.
If i were duplicitous and had utilised this exploit then i would most likely have gone for duplicating common items that had a small trader value, that way there would have been no market fluctuation, or as others have suggested lockpicks that have a stable price. Only and idiot would attempt to duplicate items with high value at traders or rarity in attaining like arm braces. Sure you can make money faster, but its very obvious somethign fishy is going on.
The same would hold true if they duplicated rare mini pets to sell. Everyoen would soon notice the influx of rare pets like Panda's

Aren't we all overreacting just a tad here?
A full month's rollback would be an unmitigated disaster. If ANet rolls things back much past Sunday, there are going to be a lot of very, very upset people. Players don't like having their time wasted.
There are a lot of easily implementable solutions for the armbrace problem. Regardless, the price of tormented gear is going to take a hit; some items whose ultimate source was the dupe are going to sneak through whatever measures ANet takes to eliminate them. That's just simple reality, and there's not much to be done about it.
Theoretically, duped high-end weapons should be traceable through the merchant price. If there's a million q9 Runic Blades running around out there, they should be identifiable by the fact that they all have the same price at the merch. This doesn't make me all that happy, as I've taken possession of a large proportion of the stuff over there in the avatar in the last 5 months...but there's little to be done about that. At least I'd still have the pets; I *know* those are legit.
As for other stuff that may have been duped (ectos/diamonds/rubies/dye), we probably should ask ourselves just how big a deal it really is if there are way more of them floating around than was previously thought. Given the fairly stable prices at the traders since April, I for one am not all that concerned about it.
Rapid changes in the amount of stuff on certain accounts should be traceable, as should a ridiculous number of reconnects. I would guess that the perpetrators are going to get what's coming to them.
Finally, there's going to be a whole bunch of brand new gear in about 2 weeks that's never been subject to a dupe.
The game's economy will recover. Panic is not warranted.

People are spamming WTB yes, but NO ONE is selling the armbraces to them.
Also some people are just joking spamming WTS armbraces, when they actually aren't selling anything.

So why hasn't anyone duplicated a Panda or Kanaxai or whatever yet? cause i really don't believe that anyone who knew the exploit didn't buy one yet and duplicated it like mad.
Anyway, i don't care about it, more supply = cheaper stuff/ecto's/whatever, and that's a good thing for me .
As long as there is no rollback (which i am convinced there won't be) i'm happy.

There's an awful lot of data they'd have to sift through to find such an anomaly. Plus, the database is continually updating every few minutes.
You'd have to already know what you were looking for to find that sort of needle in a haystack.

As I understand this exploit worked the following way:
- 2 guys zone in some location.
- 1st guy opens trade and puts ambrance(s) into trade window, presses Submitt and Accept.
- 2nd guy presses Submitt also.
- 1st guy kills his gw.exe process.
- 2nd guy presses Accept right after previous action and gots Ambrance.
- 1st guy uses reconnect feature (his Ambrance should be still in his inventory.
How to fix it: it's pretty easy! Just add checking for both seller and buyer are online after they both pressed Accept! Server needs just "ping" both before "make" trade.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

I would like too see these piles of armbraces nerfed to one armbrace and then been traded to a trader for a Armbrace of Nerf which can then be traded for a torment weapon. I just caped my Fow, rank 3 glad, lucky title and not to mention my sinking the piss title.
